What is LVT?
You might be wondering what the difference between LVT and classic vinyl flooring is. So, LVT is made from multiple layers of PVC vinyl and also uses additional compounds in order to add hardness to the surface. It is very similar to vinyl flooring but instead of being one sheet it is cut into planks. The top layer is embossed, adding more detailed groove effects. Because it is cut into planks it looks more realistic than traditional vinyl. LVT can be almost indistinguishable from traditional wooden or stone floors.

What are the benefits of LVT?
There are many benefits to installing LVT flooring. It is very durable and waterproof, making it an excellent choice for busy homes or commercial properties. It’s also warmer than other comparable materials and is comfortable to walk on barefoot. LVT is ideal for kitchens as it does not absorb moisture and will not expand if it comes into contact with water.
What about thickness?
One of the huge advantages to choosing LVT flooring is that it is quite thin in comparison to other floors available. LVT can be between 2mm to 6mm thick compared to laminate floors which can be as much as 7mm-12mm thick. Because it is so thin, installing LVT can be less disruptive for areas such as skirting or shower trays.
What sort of styles are available?
Here at Affordable Flooring Solutions, we have a vast array of designs and styles to choose from. It’s a good idea to use lighter coloured floors in areas of high foot traffic to help disguise dirt. In less busy areas, go for a darker coloured floor. Grey, slate style floorings are popular at the moment and look great in kitchens and bathrooms. If you’re looking for something warmer, try walnut coloured flooring.
